Looks like ViaCoin (VIA) is the next coin that could get some attention.

I haven't done a lot of research on it, but it's similar to GRS and VTC. It's merged mined with LTC and a newer coin than the others (announced in March 2017).

From a market cap perspective, it's starting from higher base than GRS, but significantly lower than VTC. Most of these coins have the potential to hit $100 million cap in the near future which would be a 4X move higher from here for VIA. The market is hungry for high potential, low market cap coins. Another coin that's similar with the merged mining aspect is NameCoin.

It's been around a long time, but most of the volume was tied up with BTC-e (now Wex.nz). VIA has more potential than NameCoin in the short term since it's traded on a larger exchange (Bittrex). I'd look at entering at prices in the $1 to $1.20 range. Short term exit potential is around $2 to $3 with longer term potential of $5. Vertcoin is trying to be asic resistant, its algorithm might even change if someone built an asic for it. But if you are an asic developer and you know that if you build an asic that will become useless once vertcoin moves to another hashing algorithm because you built an asic for the current one, why even bother?

That's one of its selling points, being asic resistant. That means that it's easier to stay decentralised and thus more expensive to manipulate the project like bitcoin is being manipulated.

Tl;dr: You need to expand your thinking and compare cryptos with platforms like Amazon, eBay, Dropbox, lawfirms etc, as well as different currencies like the euro, yen, dollar etc. Do we need more than one storage service like Dropbox? Why use eBay when you can use Amazon? Why talk to one lawfirm instead of another? Why use Sia coin when you can use Storj? Why use Ethereum when you can use Waves? Why use Litecoin when you can use Bitcoin?

Why use euros when you can use dollars? Do you see the point of having different cryptocurrencies now? Not tl;dr: It's actually a bit misleading to call all of them currencies because they're not all meant to be like money, you exchange them for money but they're not all by definition meant to be used in physical stores to buy stuff. There's nothing that's stopping them from doing so, but some will have as its single purpose to be like money, others will have a single purpose to act as proof that you own a contract, or like pepecoin where you buy images of pepe the frog.

Anyone can copy the image, but you as the owner can undeniably prove that it's yours. Nothing is stopping you from using pepecoins to buy stuff as long as the vendor accepts it, but that's not why it was created, see?
